These spooky Halloween cupcakes are the easiest you'll ever make!

Halloween Cupcake Decorating Recipe -


1 cup self-rising flour
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3 1/2 tbsp butter, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar
3 large eggs
1/2 cup sour cream
13 oz butter, softened
3 cups powdered sugar, sifted
3 tbsp whole milk
2 tsp vanilla extract
Black food coloring
Green food coloring
Purple food coloring
Pink food coloring
Candy eyes
Chocolate cookies
Dark chocolate
Strawberry sauce


1. Preheat the oven 350 degrees. Place 12 cupcake liners into a muffin pan.

2. Sift the flour, baking powder and cocoa powder into a large bowl. Add butter, brown sugar and eggs. Mix with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.

3. Fold in the sour cream.

4. Spoon the batter into the cupcake paper liners, filling about halfway to avoid spilling.

5. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until risen and firm to touch. Let cool.

6. Place the butter and half of the powdered sugar in a stand mixer bowl and beat slowly until mixture turns pale yellow.

7. Gradually add the rest of the powdered sugar and continue to mix until fully combined and buttercream is soft and smooth.

8. Add whole milk and vanilla extract and combine.

9. Divide the buttercream in as many colors as you need and create Halloween cupcakes such as a mummy, a terrific pumpkin, a bleeding brain, a three-eyed monster, a ghost and a spider in a spider web.
